Like slippery elm, althea reduces inflammation and has a calming effect on the body. Marshmallow has been known to relieve indigestion, kidney problems and stones, urinary tract infections, and even external skin wounds such as boils and abscesses. Juniper berry is a urinary antiseptic and a good diuretic. It is soothing to the kidneys. As uva ursi is most effective in an alkaline urine, it is suggested that an alkaline diet be followed when using this herbal formula.
